Orlin Dariel-Rodriguez and Son Killed on Eastern Valley Road

What began as an ordinary Sunday evening in Bessemer, Alabama, ended in tragedy when a father and his young son were struck and killed along a neighborhood roadway.

Authorities say 33-year-old Orlin Dariel-Rodriguez and his 3-year-old son, Jared Ramos, were hit by a vehicle just before 8 p.m. on March 15 along the 700 block of Eastern Valley Road. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members say the incident unfolded within moments. After returning home from a grocery trip, the child reportedly slipped बाहर through an open door and ran downhill toward the roadway. His father immediately chased after him and was able to reach him, but according to relatives, there was no time to avoid the oncoming vehicle.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

In the wake of the tragedy, the community is left mourning a profound loss. Loved ones describe a father’s final act as one of instinct and protection.

The family is expected to release obituary, memorial, funeral, and visitation arrangements in the coming days. Pending those details, not all information may be fully confirmed, and this report may be updated as new information becomes available.
