Kouri richins; Verdict Reached in Murder Trial of Kouri Richins, Utah Grief Author Accused of Poisoning Husband

A jury in Summit County is now weighing its decision after closing arguments wrapped in the trial of Kouri Richins. The Utah mother and author stands accused of killing her husband, Eric Richins, before later publishing a children’s book centered on grief.

Deliberations are underway at the Silver Summit Justice Center outside Park City, where jurors are considering multiple charges, including aggravated murder, attempted murder, forgery, and insurance fraud.

During closing arguments, prosecutors reiterated their claim that Richins poisoned her husband with a drink containing fentanyl, allegedly driven by financial gain. Defense attorneys countered by asserting that prosecutors did not provide sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Richins maintains her innocence, having entered a not guilty plea. The case now rests in the hands of the jury.
