Henry Hamilton Jr. Death Obitary, Killed Outside Motel as Murder Suspect Nehemiah Rice Dies Hours After Arrest Ellisville, Mississippi

The normally quiet community of Ellisville, Mississippi, was rocked late Sunday night following a fatal shooting outside a local motel that claimed the life of a 31-year-old man. Police say Henry Hamilton Jr., of Bay Springs, was shot near the entrance of the Millennium Inn shortly before midnight and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities quickly apprehended the suspected shooter, 21-year-old Nehemiah Rice, at a nearby gas station. Rice was booked into the Jones County Adult Detention Center early Monday morning. However, in a tragic and unexpected development, Rice was found unresponsive in his cell less than two hours after being booked and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Hamilton approaching the motel entrance when Rice allegedly emerged and opened fire. Investigators say there was no known connection between the two men, and authorities are working to determine what led to the deadly confrontation.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has been called in to review the incident, and an autopsy will be conducted to confirm the cause of Rice’s death.

The family of Henry Hamilton Jr. will release information regarding obituary, memorial, funeral, and visitation arrangements. Until those details are officially shared, not all aspects of this report are confirmed, and updates may be made as new information becomes available.
